On November 12, 2005 Golden Tiger Karate tested its first junior black belt at the Northampton school. Grandmaster Robert C. Nenow, 10th Dan and Bernard Pfeiffer, 5th Dan sat on the testing board with Sadan Nim Virgil DeGarmo, 3rd Dan, Les Street, 1st Dan, and Barb Street, 1st Dan. Jerome successfully completed the rigorous examine both physically and mentally. He was supported by family and friends and fellow students. The testing was a complex mixture of katas, self defense, one & three step sparring techniques, sparring (single and multiple), grappling, judo, wrist locks, weapons and breaking. Plus his knowledge about karate and its history and meanings.
