On April 23, 2005 Golden Tiger Karate tested its first black belt at the Northampton school. Grandmaster Robert C. Nenow, 10th Dan and Andre Berard, 5th Dan sat on the testing board with Sadan Nim Virgil DeGarmo, 3rd Dan and Sean Schwoyer, 2nd Dan. Nick Takacs successfully completed the rigorous examine both physically and mentally. He was supported by family and friends and fellow students. The testing was a complex mixture of katas, self defense, one & three step sparring techniques, sparring (single and multiple), grappling, judo, wrist locks, weapons and breaking. Plus his knowledge about karate and its history and meanings.
